Perfect location

The Haarlemmerstraat has a perfect location, in the middle of the history-rich neighbourhood De Jordaan and the Grachtengordel. It is a few minute-walk from the Central Station, which makes it an ideal location to meet at a local point, or to quickly grab a bite to eat. Also, did you know you can be at Schiphol Airport in just 15 minutes from Central Station?

History Haarlemmerstraat

The Amsterdam city center is world famous, mainly because of the old buildings and the canals. Since 1 August 2010, many of these buildings are listed, together with the entire canal district, in the Unesco World Heritage List. Close to the Singel canal, you find the Haarlemmerstraat, where Bistrot Neuf is located in a beautiful monumental building.

The Haarlemmerstraat runs along the Nieuwendijk in a westerly direction from the Singel to Korte Prinsengracht. For the expansion of the city in 1593, the Haarlemmerpoort was located near the Singel. After moving to the west, the Spaarndammerdijk came to lie within the walls and the first part became the Haarlemmerstraat.

Award Best Shopping-Street in Amsterdam

The Haarlemmerstraat was awarded the best shopping street in the Netherlands by visitors to the NLstreets website in 2011. You will find all kinds of shops ranging from independent boutiques, specialized shops and small salons to trendy but affordable restaurants and bars and even the oldest cinema in Amsterdam, The Movies. In addition, the constant flow of passers-by ensures a fun afternoon only by just watching them. On Thursday evening, the shops are open until 9 pm, which means that you can perfectly combine an afternoon shopping with a delicious bite.
